Welcome to Baby Steps Portraits … the Essence of Baby’s First Year!
We’ll create portraits four different times … as baby first becomes aware of family, sits for the first time, starts to crawl and explore, and finally those first standing moments.
We want to capture every stage, usually every three months. But what about those first few weeks, when everything is changing so fast? Call us early enough and we’ll include an additional newborn session at no charge, for tiny babies 6 weeks or younger. You’ll be amazed at the changes you see between that first, quiet session with a sleeping baby, and the active baby he has already become at just three months! By six months, there is a whole new person sitting there in front of you … and our camera.
Baby Steps will give you…
- Your own private sessions – at Keane Studios, your appointment is yours exclusively. You never have to wait in line – we’re ready when your baby is ready – and our focus is completely on you and your child when you are with us.
- Completely personalized portrait sessions, using a combination of our own timeless props and – if you like – clothing, toys, stuffed animals and family mementos you bring with you to create images that are uniquely yours.

Just the other day we photographed the senior portrait for the last of five daughters in a family who’s been coming to us since their oldest daughter was born. Our Baby Steps Bear, the companion for all our new friends.
The idea behind Baby Steps Bear is not that your child needs another stuffed animal, though lots of parents tell us he’s a favorite! The idea is that Baby Steps Bear stays the same size while your child grows. The bear will be yours to keep after your first session. Each time you come in, we can photograph them together, and you’ll have a very visual example of how much your little one is growing.
The Birthday Chair
It’s not just a prop. It’s the chair that remains the same while your child grows.
Your baby being photographed on that chair each session, and at least on each birthday thereafter, shows how quickly they change.
